Workers atop Seattle's Space Needle were treated to a surprise recently when a drone crashed onto the roof of the famous building and landed at their feet.

According to KOMO News, no injuries were reported and the building did not sustain any damage. The same can't be said for the drone, however; a witness said he saw a propeller fall onto the observation deck.

What's more, the drone was carrying a video camera and the entire December incident, from when the drone flew around the building to its dramatic impact, was recorded.

After hovering near the top of the Space Needle and moving around its perimeter, the drone seemed to capture the attention of workers on the roof who were making preparations for a New Year's Eve fireworks display. The drone suddenly made a beeline for the building at high speed and crashed onto the platform that sits near the top of the 605-foot structure.

"It came so close," 13-year-old Thor Povlsen, who was on the observation deck, told KOMO. "I think it's pretty scary that it can get that close. There should be a height limit."

Police are trying to locate the drone's pilot and the FAA was made aware of the incident.

There has been talk in recent months that terror groups and others could use drones to launch attacks on private citizens. The Islamic State (ISIS) is already using drones equipped with small explosives in the fight in and around Mosul, Iraq.
