D'Souza's 'Hillary's America' Debuts with Box Office Success

Dinesh D'Souza's latest documentary film "Hillary's America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party" opened this weekend as the top theater average of 2016 for a political documentaries so far, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The film earned an estimated $77,500 from three theaters, for an average of $25,833.

D'Souza's film outdid "Weiner," a documentary about former New York Rep. Anthony Wiener's failed political comeback as New York mayor. "Weiner" was shown in five theaters in May, where it averaged $16,835. Michael Moore's "Where to Invade Next," made an average of $2,912 in 208 theaters in February.

"Hillary's America" also had best location average except for "Vaxed: From Cover Up to Catastrophe, which debuted in only one theater.

All three of "Hillary's America" theaters were in conservative strongholds of Dallas, Houston and Phoenix.
