The New York Times caught some flak after publishing a story Tuesday that asked readers to let the paper know of any "disinformation" they come across leading up to the November midterm elections.
The Times story, which was posted to its Twitter account, called on people to use a form on its website to report any suspected fake news in the form of online ads, social media posts, and stories.
The paper's Twitter account, however, was inundated with commenters mocking the paper's tendency to lean left.
Here's a sampling of the responses:
"Trust me, you don't need our help, you're doing a splendid job spreading false information already!"
"I would like to report the @nytimes as reporting false information and fake news."
"Look in the mirror."
"Have you checked your newsroom?"
"CNN ABC CBS NBC MSNBC HUFFPO WAPO NYT ETC"
"You mean like the articles in The New York Times?"
"My suggestion would be to shut down until after the elections. That way, at least ONE source of false information would be eliminated."
President Donald Trump and other Republicans constantly criticize The New York Times for its coverage of the Trump administration.
The paper recently came under fire for publishing an essay written by an anonymous member of the Trump administration accusing the president of harming the country through his actions.
