Florida is coordinating the reopening of its economy with five other southern states.

The news came during an interview with the state’s governor Ron DeSantis on Tuesday’s “Fox & Friends.”

“We have had a meeting with all the southeastern governors — Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, and Tennessee,” DeSantis said. “And we shared a lot of ideas. I think we will be on the same page on some stuff.”

But he noted in Florida the situation is a little different since three counties in the southeast part of the state have "over 60% of our hospitalizations in Florida to date."

The Hill pointed out Florida’s stay-at-home order expires April 30. However, DeSantis has said he will close K-12 schools for the rest of the academic year.

DeSantis said his state has flattened the coronavirus curve without “draconian orders.”

And he praised residents for doing a “great job” that will lead to the state reopening for business as the stay-at-home order expires.

Meanwhile, seven northeastern states and the three west coast states have already banded together to forge coordinated, gradual economic reopenings as the pandemic subsides.
