Actress Mia Farrow's 25-year-old son is reportedly close to signing a deal with MSNBC that could lead to his own show after he builds "his TV news credentials," a network source said.
Ronan Farrow, who has been in the news since his mother suggested he could "possibly" be son of late crooner Frank Sinatra, reportedly
has little television experience, the New York Post reports. He has worked as a freelance journalist and has been published in The Atlantic and in The Wall Street Journal.
"They're just finalizing the contract," a network source told the Post.
"Ronan is not going to get his show off the bat, but they are going to develop him, have him work on stories and build his TV news credentials."
Farrow, a Rhodes scholar and graduate of Bard College and Yale Law School, would be the network's newest attraction, along with actor Alec Baldwin, whose new show "Up Late," premieres Friday.
Farrow has received a great deal of media attention in recent weeks, after his mother's comments
in a Vanity Fair interview that Sinatra, her former husband, might be his father.
The young journalist was believed to be the biological son of Farrow and her long-time lover, director Woody Allen.
Farrow responded to his mother's Vanity Fair interview with
Allen-like wit, telling his Twitter followers, “Listen, we’re all *possibly* Frank Sinatra’s son.”
Some media observers see the Farrow negotiations as an attention-getting move by MSNBC. Though he's short on experience, Farrow would bring to the network the kind of celebrity associations that Anderson Cooper, son of socialite Gloria Vanderbilt, carried to CNN.
Farrow also has Democratic Party connections that could make him a popular MSNBC commentator. He has already served in the Obama administration as a special adviser to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on global youth issues and as a spokesman for UNICEF.
