Fox News host Sean Hannity disagreed with President Donald Trump's narrative that members of the House Freedom Caucus are at fault for the failure of the Republican healthcare bill on his program Friday.
"Now in my opinion, it's not the Freedom Caucus that's responsible for the GOP failure in this case to repeal and replace Obamacare," Hannity said. "Now this legislation was flawed from the beginning. It was created behind closed doors. Not one single member saw the bill until it was rolled out. And that made it a disaster."
Trump lashed out at the caucus in a series of tweets starting Thursday morning.
On Friday he specifically called out three members over their lack of support for the GOP bill.
"Now I don't know who's telling the White House to focus their anger on the Freedom Caucus, but I do think it's misplaced," Hannity continued. "Because the Freedom Caucus, I've talked to them, they want to make a deal, and they want the win for the president and the country."
Fox News contributor Laura Ingraham added that the "White House was not as involved as it should have been" with the bill.
"It's ridiculous at this point to start pointing fingers at the Freedom Caucus," she added. "I don't understand Donald Trump's tweets at all about that today."
