Hillary Clinton says she has to take blood thinners after doctors found a blood clot between her brain and skull in 2012 following a concussion, The Hill reports.

"I did have a concussion and some effects in the aftermath of it, mostly dizziness, double vision," The Hill reports her telling People magazine. "Those all dissipated. Blood thinners are my continuing treatment for the blood clot."

In December 2012,  Clinton fainted after she had a stomach virus and then suffered the concussion.

The report says that the condition left her unable to fulfill all of her goals as Secretary of State before she left the job in 2013.

"But I was determined to do as much as I could, and that included testifying before Congress," she is quoted as saying about her testimony regarding the 2012 attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi, Libya, that killed four Americans.

"People have basically been told to shake it off. I could've shaken it off," she continued about her head injury. "But at what cost? I rested and went back to work after the first of the year."

Some have questioned whether Clinton's health issues could impact a presidential run in 2016.

Karl Rove created a firestorm in May when he questioned whether she could have possibly suffered a traumatic brain injury.

Rove also said Clinton's age (69 in 2016) is fair game, CNN reported.

"In American politics, there is a sense that you want to be new, that you don't want to be too familiar," he is quoted as saying. "You want to be something fresh, you don't want to be something that is old and stale."
