Hillary Clinton says she can imagine both Dr. Ben Carson and Donald Trump in "some" office — just not necessarily the White House.

Appearing on CBS' "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," the former secretary of state was asked if she'd rather run against the retired pediatric neurosurgeon or the billionaire developer, who are No. 1 and No. 2 in two GOP presidential polls.

"I'm going to leave that to the Republicans. If I say one or the other, it might influence some people, and I don't want to have any influence on it. I want them to go through whatever their process is," Clinton told Colbert.

Colbert then asked: "You can picture either one of those guys in the office, right?"

Clinton paused for a moment and replied: "Well, I can picture them in some office" — a crack that had the audience in stitches.

Colbert tried to drag Clinton — who was born in Chicago and served as a U.S. senator from New York — into a pizza war, asking which metropolis made better pies, the Windy City or the Big Apple.

"I'm not going to tell a soul publicly, but I'll whisper it in your ear," Clinton replied diplomatically.

Colbert then flashed old photos of Clinton going to back to high school, asking whether her old outfits might make good Halloween costumes.

"If anybody left in America has a Peter Pan-collar white shirt and a plaid jumper, you could do that," she shot back.
