The 1776 Commission was an example of President Donald Trump's greatest accomplishment, according to conservative thinker and author David Horowitz on Newsmax TV.
"He's a patriot, stood up for America," Horowitz told host Chris Salcedo on The Chris Salcedo Show on Tuesday. "The Democrats hate America.
"This 1619 Project devised by the New York Times and now in our schools is an attack on America worthy of Iranian Nazis. It's an attack on white people, too, because the founders were white. Saying that America is built on slavery. [But] 1776 is a clarion call for freedom, liberty, equality.”
The 1619 Project published essays and poems in 2019 that reframed the country's history by emphasizing consequences of slavery and the contributions of black Americans.
Trump created the 1776 Commission to promote "patriotic education." It issued its final report on Monday, when it criticized how American students are taught about the country's formation, as well as the history of slavery and racial discrimination.
Horowitz expressed concern Democrats not only want to control what students are taught, they also want to stop anyone from disagreeing with them.
"Democrats want to remove [Sen. Josh] Hawley[, R-Mo.] and [Sen. Ted] Cruz[, R-Texas] from the Senate for merely questioning the legality of [the election]," Horowitz said. "Democrats challenged and called for the decertification of electors in 2000 and 2004, both [George W.] Bush elections and 2016 the Trump election."
