Poll: 55% Approve of Trump Coronavirus Response

Fifty-five percent of Americans now approve of President Donald Trump’s handling of the coronavirus crisis, a new ABC News/Ipsos poll reveals.

The poll, conducted March 18-19 found 43% disapprove.

A survey taken last week showed 43% approved of the way he was handling the response and 54% disapproved.

Here are how the poll results, released Friday, break down:

  • 79% are concerned that they or someone they know will be infected by the virus, compared to 21% who are not concerned. Last week, 66% were concerned and 33% were not.
  • 17% said they are now working from home due to the virus; 36% said they are working from their regular workplace outside the home and 41% said they are not currently employed. Last week 3% said they were working from home because of the virus; 55% said they were working from their regular workplace outside the home and 35% said they were not employed.
  • 57% said they canceled going out to dinner because of the virus, compared to 9% the week before.
  • 33% said they had canceled attending a religious service, compared to 3% the week before.
  • 35% said they had canceled taking a vacation, compared to 13% the week before.

The poll surveyed 512 adults. The margin of error is plus or minus 5 percentage points.
