Boehner's Christmas Carol Celebrates a GOP Congress

Republican House Speaker John Boehner put his own political spin on "a Christmas reading" on his YouTube page Thursday, celebrating the holiday season – and an incoming GOP-controlled Congress.

Boehner's poem, "Happy Christmas To All," slyly suggests there is reason to be merry about the end of the Democratic majority in the Senate.

"Twas the end of the 113th when the countdown began, the new American Congress would soon be at hand. Time to take on the tough issues, like taxes and spending. The gridlock in the Senate may finally be ending," Boehner recited, with just the hint of a smile.

Boehner, who represents Ohio's 8th congressional district, also gave President Barack Obama a lump of coal for issuing executive orders, including on immigration, rather than working with Congress.

"Reform is needed, from home in Ohio to here on Capitol Hill, but not by executive order, but instead by bill," the House Speaker rhymed.
