Dallas Mavericks owner and "Shark Tank" host Mark Cuban and conservative political commentator Ann Coulter have been cast to play the president and vice president in the third installment of the Syfy channel campy Sharknado series, according to Hollywood Reporter.

Scheduled to be aired in July, "Sharknado 3" is set in Washington, D.C., and will focus around the "mass destruction" Sharknado will bring to the nation's capital. The first two installments were set in Los Angeles and New York, respectively.

Ian Ziering and Tara Reid will return to the cast in the lead roles of Fin and April, but Reid's character will be pregnant in the latest film.

In order to generate buzz around the movie, the Syfy channel has packed the latest installment with cameo appearances from former Cincinnati mayor and talk show host Jerry Springer, Bo Derek and Chris Kirkpatrick of the boy band N'Sync, the entertainment trade magazine reports.

And representatives from the Syfy network are busily trying to give the film a more of a Washington look by sending out emails to seeking "select recognizable senators and congressmen, and a few others like Colin Powell and Oliver North," an industry source told Politico.

The original Sharknado movie amazed many critics when it became a cult hit and "Sharknado 2" built on that success, becoming Syfy’s biggest hit ever with 3.9 million viewers on its first broadcast on July 31, 2014, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"Sharknado has really tapped in to something with people. There’s a general affinity for the drive-in style creature feature films because they’re escapist, they’re popcorn fun, they attract a lot of different demographics. Obviously Sharknado transcended its genre," executive vice president of marketing Michael Engleman told Forbes magazine in 2014.

Engleman also attributed the nation's fascination with sharks as a major factor in the success of the series.

"This is where the shark hits the fan. It's bigger. It's badder. There's something coming that you're just not expecting," Ziering told Entertainment Tonight in February.
