Max Lucado to Newsmax TV: Faith in Time of Coronavirus

Preaching for Americans to "avoid despair," Pastor Max Lucado on Newsmax TV urges Americans to heed warnings against large gatherings but to stay connected and "keep each other encouraged and built up."

"This just gives us an opportunity to get creative with our faith," Lucado told Monday's "Newsmax Now" host John Bachman. "Fortunately, we live in a day and age – like [Monday] with you – an opportunity to talk to somebody just via the Internet, computers. We'll find ways to keep each other encouraged and built up.

"I think what's important is just avoid despair, we keep praying, we keep trusting, and God's going to create a way for us to stay connected."

Fittingly, Lucado published a must-read book amid the coronavirus pandemic, "Anxious for Nothing: Finding Calm in a Chaotic World."

As for his Oak Hill church in San Antonio, Texas, they are using today's tools to keep sharing the love of God and the connection of people of faith.

"We are encouraging people to create a little church environment in their home," Lucado added to Bachman. "I believe that every person who puts their faith in God and in Christ is, in effect, a minister."

Lucado also urged parents to provide pastoral presence over their family, or perhaps even neighbors.

This is an opportunity for us to "say how God raises up leaders in the smaller communal circles," he concluded.
