The husband of the woman who was caught on video kissing Louisiana Rep. Vance McAllister said the incident has "wrecked" his life and he's getting a divorce.

"I'm just freaking devastated by the whole deal, man," Heath Peacock said during an interview with CNN. "I loved my wife so much. I cannot believe this. I cannot freaking believe it. I feel like I’m going to wake up here in a minute and this is all going to be a bad nightmare."

Melissa Hixon Peacock, 33, who worked as an aide to McAllister, was seen on a security camera kissing the Republican at his office in Monroe, La,. in December. The Ouachita Citizen obtained a copy of the video and published it to its website Monday.

The 40-year-old McAllister has been married for 16 years and has five children; the Peacocks have been married for six years and have a 6-year-old son.

"He has wrecked my life," the 34-year-old Peacock told CNN. "We’re headed for divorce. It was just a kiss, that was all it was, but it embarrassed me and my family.

"This guy has turned my life upside down."

Peacock said his wife called him a few hours before the story broke and told him what had happened. Melissa Hixon Peacock is no longer employed by McAllister.

McAllister previously worked with Heath Peacock for 16 years at Mustang Engineering, according to the Citizen. He left his post there last August before winning the 5th District congressional seat that was left vacant by Rodney Alexander, who resigned in the middle of his sixth term to take a job in Gov. Bobby Jindal's administration.

McAllister ran as a Christian conservative, which Heath Peacock says did not tell the full story.

"I know his beliefs," Peacock said on CNN. "When he ran one of his commercials, he said 'I need your prayers,' and I asked, 'When did you get religious?' He said, 'When I needed votes.' He broke out the religious card and he's about the most non-religious person I know."
