Meghan McCain told "The View" fans Monday she would be taking time off while she is "hanging out" with her father, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., as he battles brain cancer.
During the ABC daytime talk show episode, McCain reported her father was "doing well" after April 15 surgery for an intestinal infection in Phoenix, Arizona.
"I'm going to be coming back and forth a little bit, so just know, if I'm not here, I'm just hanging out with my dad and my mom," she said, referring to her mother, Cindy McCain, as well.
She was last absent from the show last Wednesday and Thursday, the Washington Examiner reported.
"I want to thank everyone at Mayo Clinic, especially his doctors and nurses," she said. "I think it just takes a really special person to become a doctor or a nurse because I could never do it and it's a really amazing thing."
The senior Senator and former Vietnam POW was diagnosed last July with glioblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer.
