Fans of the Netflix political drama "House of Cards" gleefully watch Kevin Spacey's evil "lowly House Majority Whip" Frank Underwood utter many cold, calculating lines in the popular political drama — but his cynical outlook takes on a whole new meaning when delivered by real lawmakers.

The video website Now This News persuaded a half-dozen lawmakers, including House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., to deliver some of Underwood's more memorable lines in honor of Friday's second-season premiere of "House of Cards."

The entire second season, like the first season, is available on the pay-subscription video streaming service, so viewers can watch one episode at a time or binge on the entire season in a weekend.

Story continues below video.

While the lawmakers aren't as cutthroat as Underwood is on the show — which has been critically slammed for its cynical depiction of Washington's political scene, reports This Week — they delivered their lines in a deadpan way that will likely delight fans of the "House of Cards" diabolical Rep. Underwood.

The participants, and their quotes, include:

McCarthy, R-Calif: "I never make such big decisions so long after sunset and so far from dawn."

Rep. Jim Clyburn, D-S.C.: "I have no patience for useless things."

Rep. Trey Gowdy, R- S.C.: "I have zero tolerance for betrayal."

Rep. Donna Edwards, D-Md. (while looking at a photograph of herself and President Barack Obama): "Power is a lot like real estate. Location, location, location."

Rep. Jeff Duncan, R-S.C.; "That's how you devour a whale, Doug. One bite at a time."

Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C.: "The nature of promises, Linda, is that they are immune, immune to changing circumstances."
