While speaking at a fundraiser on Monday night in Sin City, President Obama was still bitter about a golfing day that he shared with New York Yankees legend Derek Jeter last November,
Bleacher Report said.
"Derek Jeter stole money from me," said Obama, according to the
New York Daily News. "And it was clearly a setup."
Obama was under the impression that Jeter had only been playing golf for two weeks when they went out to Shadow Creek, a course in North Las Vegas.
As Jeter was shanking balls left and right at the practice range, Obama gave him 30 strokes. But the president realized he had been hustled by the Hall of Famer when they teed off at the first hole.
"On the first tee, suddenly the ball just went straight and down the middle of the fairway," the president said to laughter. "And we had to take a picture of me handing Derek Jeter money at the end of it."
According to Bleacher Report, after Jeter's retirement from baseball in 2014, he took to the game of golf. And, while it may be a while before the president agrees to go golfing with Jeter again, if they do, it's safe to say that the Hall of Famer should not expect any further strokes from the president of the United States.
