A nurse in Oregon has been placed on leave after she posted a video on TikTok mocking the mask rules in place from the state public health department, The Mercury News reports.
Salem Health Hospitals & Clinics said in a Facebook post that the video from an unidentified nurse at the hospital “displayed a cavalier disregard for the seriousness of this pandemic and her indifference towards physical distancing and masking outside of work.”
The video shows the nurse wearing scrubs and a stethoscope in what seems to be a break room at the hospital while she lip-syncs to a song from the 2000 adaptation of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” which has the Grinch mocking a scared child. The caption for the video states: “When my coworkers find out I still travel, don’t wear a mask when I am out and let my kids have playdates.”
The nurse, who has worked in healthcare for at least 10 years, according to records from the Oregon State Board of Nursing, is currently on administrative leave while an investigation is conducted.
Oregon’s public health department issued an order earlier this month requiring that people wear masks at all times when outside their home, their car, or a “private, individual workspace.”
