A majority of active duty troops support Donald Trump, though 25 percent say they are worried the president-elect could issues order that violate rules or traditions, according to a Military Times/Institute for Military and Veterans Families poll.

The results, according to the survey:

  • 51 percent say they support Trump.
  • 56 percent believe Trump will improve pay/benefits.
  • More than 27 percent — 39 percent of officers — think Trump will negatively impact their job.
  • 20 percent said they're unlikely to re-enlist under Trump.

Less than 30 percent of those surveyed think Trump will be able to end the 15-year mission in Afghanistan during his term as president, according to the poll.

Between Nov. 10 and Nov. 14, Military Times and IVMF conducted a voluntary, confidential online survey of U.S. service members. The survey received 2,790 responses from active-duty troops.

The margin of error for most questions was less than 2 percent.
