Florida Gov. Rick Scott has invited Yale University to make a permanent move to the Sunshine State.
In a press release, the governor invited the famed school to move in response to state budget woes in Connecticut that led to a proposal to tax the profit of Yale's $25.6 billion endowment, reports the
Orlando Sentinel.
"It is clear that all businesses in Connecticut, including Yale, should move to Florida." Scott said. "We will not raise taxes on their endowment."
A Yale spokesman already refused the invitation.
"It's wonderful to be recognized as an outstanding asset," said spokesman Tom Conroy. "But Yale, New Haven, and Connecticut have been on common ground to great mutual benefit for 300 years."
Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy threw out the bill to tax Yale, reports

Gov. Malloy, a Democrat, showed little amusement at the invitation, calling it "partisan politics."
Gov. Scott, a Republican, has sent invitations to Connecticut businesses before, as well as New York, California, Minnesota, Kentucky, and Illinois, all of which had Democratic governors at the time.
However, Gov. Scott is not alone in sending out invitations to Yale.

Hartford Courant reports
that Cato Institute founder and Yale graduate Walter Olson said the university should move to Boston.
It's not impossible, the article states. The university already moved once, in 1716.
