House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi cares more about illegally migrating children than about the unborn in the United States, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said, criticizing the California
Democrat's visit to the U.S.-Mexico border Saturday.
"Pelosi spoke highly of illegal immigrants storming our U.S. border, including the children being used and abused in this crisis, and said America needs to look at this as an 'opportunity,' not a crisis," Palin said on her
Facebook page.
While at the border, Pelosi said that "every child, every person, has a spark of divinity in them and is therefore worthy of respect" because "we are all God's children."
Pelosi was "either speaking such gibberish, considering her track record, or confessing one heck of a great conversion," Palin said.
On Saturday, Pelosi said at her visit to a Border Patrol facility in Brownsville, Texas, where immigrant children are being held, that politics should be set aside to address what President Barack Obama has called an "urgent humanitarian situation."
"A few days ago I would have been more optimistic about comprehensive immigration reform," Pelosi said. "I thought that we had been finding a way because we have been very patient and respectful of [House Speaker John Boehner] trying to do it one way or another. I don't think he gives us much reason to be hopeful now, but we never give up. There's still the month of July."
But after viewing news reports about Pelosi's visit, Palin complained that the House minority leader has never been seen as a pro-child/pro-life advocate for every innocent human life while still in the womb.
"Pelosi often touts her Catholic faith but overlooks this doctrine her church has preached for 2000 years," Palin said in the Facebook post. "Hopefully she’s changed her tune on the issue of life – in which case, I’m sure she’ll invite those who understand the impact a culture of life can have on America to use her new, refreshing advocacy statement."
Instead, she complained that Pelosi gave a pro-life message at the border that could "educate those in her party who constantly claim to be 'for the children' in one breath, but in their next breath advocate snuffing out the life of innocent children soon-to-be-born."
