Report: Spicer, DC Mega-Agent 'Distancing Themselves'

After former White House press secretary Sean Spicer failed to land a lucrative post-administration job, Spicer and Washington talent agent and attorney Bob Barnett "are distancing themselves from each other," according to BuzzFeed News sources.

Spicer is moving toward working more with Mel Berger of WME, while Barnett is downplaying his ties to Spicer in an apparent move to "uphold a reputation as the preeminent talent broker in Washington," according to the report.

"I continue to look into a variety of possibilities," Spicer told BuzzFeed News on Friday.

"Beyond speaking opportunities and corporate consulting, I’ve been listening to several ideas on a variety of fronts."

Barnett, who reportedly "charges a pricey hourly lawyer rate as opposed to the typical 10% agent commission," referred BuzzFeed News to Spicer himself.

Among the other myriad reasons for the reported split, a source said, we "was a lot of resistance" from those in TV to deal – potentially because of his past ties to the Trump administration and critical media suggestions he has lied on behalf of the president.
