"Sesame Street" will abandon its normally light children's programming to take on a more serious tone this Saturday.

The show will partner with CNN to host a 60-minute town hall this Saturday for children and families to talk about race.

The show, called "Coming Together: Standing Up to Racism," is a response to the death of George Floyd, a black man who died after a white Minneapolis police officer kneeled on his neck.

"Coming Together" will also address the protests, as well as teaching lessons on embracing diversity and showing empathy to other racial and ethnic groups.

Big Bird, along with Van Jones and Erica Hill of CNN, will moderate the program. Other Sesame Street characters such as Abby Cadabby, Elmo and Rosita will also answer submitted questions.

The show will broadcast on CNN, CNN International and CNN en Español, and stream live on CNN.com and CNN mobile apps for non-subscribers.
