An eighth grade student in West Virginia was arrested after getting into an argument with this teacher and refusing to remove an NRA T-shirt he had worn to school.
Jared Marcum, a student at Logan Middle School, said his teacher objected to the shirt, which also had an image of a rifle and the slogan, “Protect Your Right,”
reports WOWK-TV. After an argument, in which Jared said he was not aggressive, police were called and Jared was charged with obstruction and disturbing the education process.

While the dress code of the Logan County School District prohibits clothing with profanity, violence and discriminatory messages, it does not mention gun images, the TV station reports. The image on the shirt is of what some describe as an “assault-style” rifle that lawmakers such as Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calf., have sought to ban.
Jared’s father, Allen Lardieri, said the situation was blown out of proportion and expressed anger than his son was charged with a crime over the incident.
"I will go to the ends of the earth, I will call people, I will write letters, I will do everything in the legal realm to make sure this does not happen again," Lardieri told WOWK-TV.
Police confirmed the arrest, but the school district did not respond to requests for comment to the TV station.
