Eight Syrians were caught trying to enter the United States through the U.S. border with Mexico at Laredo, Texas, Breitbart News reports.

Brietbart quotes two federal agents working with U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Border Patrol agent and NBPC Local 2455 President Hector Garza confirmed that Laredo agents have been contacting the union to express concern about the reports.

"Our agents have heard about Syrians being apprehended in the area from other federal agents," Garza told Breitbart. "At this time, I cannot confirm or deny that Syrians have crossed, for security reasons."

The two agents told Breitbart that the Syrians were attempting to enter as two "family units."

Garza said it is unlikely that incidents of Syrian trying to enter the southern border would be publicized by the agency, but he added that the union is telling agents in the area to use "extra precautions."

The apprehensions came just three days after the terror attacks in Paris that killed 129 people. Officials say one of those attackers entered Europe claiming to be a Syrian refugee.
