Report: No Evidence Trump Gave Board Game Proceeds to Charity

Donald Trump's claims of donating $1 million to charity from sales of "Trump: The Game," a Monopoly-style board game sold in the late 1980s-early 1990s have yet to be substantiated by his organization, presidential campaign or Habro, the parent company of Milton Bradley, according to a Huffington Post report.

When Trump first unveiled the game at Trump Towers in 1989, he announced that from his perspective, "all the profits we make will go toward charities," with the main beneficiaries being group's funding research into AIDS, cerebral palsy, and multiple sclerosis.

The claim came as a shock to Milton Bradley officials at the event who did not know he would make such an announcement, according to Trump biographer Gwenda Blair, as he'd never discussed that option with the game company. Eighteen months later, Trump said the game has sold more than 800,000 copies, and that he'd donated around $1 million to charities.

The game sales proved disappointing, reports The Huffington Post. Milton Bradley had planned to put out 2 million copies, but reconsidered when sales were slow.

The board game's sales are adding to the list of donations Trump says he has made but haven't been substantiated, which  include proceeds from his book "Crippled America" and sales of Trump Vodka, according to the website.

Most recently, the presumptive GOP nominee came under fire over donations to veterans groups after a fundraiser in Iowa earlier this year. After announcing the donations a week after his fundraiser,  The Washington Post demanded evidence of where the money had gone.
