Trump on Healthcare: 'We Were Let Down by All the Democrats'

President Donald Trump used Twitter Tuesday morning to blame "all of the Democrats and a few Republicans" for the failure of Republican efforts to repeal and replace Obamacare.

He also praised "most Republicans" for working hard and vowed that "we will return."

Trump followed up with another tweet five minutes later, repeating his assertion that a "great healthcare plan" will emerge after Obamacare fails.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell abandoned efforts to pass an Obamacare replacement Monday night, after two more Republican senators announced their opposition to his plan, drafted largely in secret.

The defections by Mike Lee and Jerry Moran, in addition to previous opposition by GOP Senators Rand Paul and Susan Collins, were enough to sink the majority leader's plan.

McConnell, a Kentucky Republican, said "regretfully, it is now apparent that the effort to repeal and immediately replace the failure of Obamacare will not be successful."
