Official: 2 Blasts Rock Nigerian Capital

LAGOS, Nigeria (AP) — An official of the National Emergency Management Agency says the Nigerian capital city of Abuja has been rocked by two explosions.

Ezekiel Manzo said the explosions Friday night happened in Nyanya and Kuje, both satellite towns of Abuja. Manzo said in a statement that the explosions happened almost simultaneously "and have resulted in a number of deaths and injuries." He did not immediately give a death toll.

No group has claimed responsibility but the attack has attributes of others by home-grown extremist group Boko Haram. Boko Haram extremists have largely been carrying out attacks in the country's northeast but occasionally have attacked other towns.

At least 20,000 people have died and 1.4 million others displaced from their homes in violence from Boko Haram's six-year uprising.
