Sen. Dave McCormick, R-Pa., told "Fox News Sunday" that Hamas cannot govern in the Gaza Strip.
Speaking on ceasefire negotiations, when asked by host Shannon Bream who would govern the Gaza Strip as well as what a rebuilding effort would look like, McCormick responded, "The principles have to be first and foremost that Israel has to have security. That's an uncompromisable.
"Second is, Hamas can't be in a governing role. They've had the opportunity to govern, and it's been a disaster for the people there.
"There has to be a governing structure that brings people of Gaza — that are willing to be peace-loving people — out of poverty and in a position where they can have opportunity," he said.
