Trump Gaffes Give Democrats Firepower

By    |   Monday, 22 August 2016 04:24 PM EDT

Recently, Donald Trump shook up his campaign leadership again. Maybe he finally considered the words of Oliver Hardy: "Well, here's another nice mess you've gotten me into."

Trump has been his own worst enemy. His gaffes make it easy for Democrats to label him unfit for the presidency. A letter co-signed by prominent Republicans warned, "Trump lacks the temperament to be president." Retired four-star Gen. Michael Hayden, former director of both the NSA and CIA, elaborated on CNN, "If he governs, the way he talks as a candidate and, we have seen no evidence that he won't, he would be a danger to American and global security."

The way he talks has caused anxiety since Trump's campaign began. Each gaffe legitimizes doubts about his temperament. Who knows what Trump would actually do if he wins?

He has no actual political record.

By contrast, Hillary has a long record.

The trajectory of Hillary's tenure as secretary of state and Obama's presidency suggests a dangerous future. Trump's gaffes allow Hillary to escape accountability for how much more dangerous the world became during her tenure. To win, Trump must keep this election a referendum on Hillary and the spotlight on her record across the world.

Vice President Joe Biden said, "Iraq will be one of the great achievements of this administration." Iraq was stable when Obama and Hillary entered office. Against the advice of their generals, they withdrew all American troops. Iraq immediately fell to violence and chaos.

Out of anarchy, ISIS was born. Obama called it "the JV Team." ISIS has carried-out some of the most brutal and savage acts in history. They have committed or inspired attacks that have killed and wounded thousands of people worldwide. The attacks are occurring more frequently, including on our homeland; San Bernardino, Orlando, and Boston.

Misjudging ISIS made the world far more dangerous.

If Hillary is elected, expect more attacks worldwide.

Hillary and Obama repeat: "Trump's dangerous." But they negotiated a dangerous deal with Iran that allows its Mullahs nuclear weapons in ten-years. North Korea violates treaties, continuing nuclear and longer range missile tests. If Hillary is elected, the policies that allowed these nuclear programs to flourish will continue. Hillary's policies mean the use of a nuclear weapon by a rogue nation is practically inevitable.

In Egypt, we helped oust a strongman for the Muslim Brotherhood. In Syria, Clinton and Obama drew a “red line." When Assad used chemical weapons on his people, there were no consequences.

In Libya, the administration ousted another dictator using the military, without Congressional authorization, resulting in the senseless tragedy — Benghazi.

Secretary Clinton failed to heed Ambassador Christopher Stevens pleas for additional security. The full Benghazi story remains unknown. How many answers were in the 33,000 emails Hillary deleted? Her lies about email should disqualify her from the presidency. If Hillary is elected, the families of the four Americans killed in Benghazi will never see justice. It's likely more information regarding corruption between Hillary's State Department and the Clinton Foundation will emerge.

Hillary says Trump's unfit to serve, but who mishandled classified material and lied about it? Whose proved they are untrustworthy with national security?

Hillary pushed the "reset" button on relations with Russia. Since then Putin has retaken Crimea and the Ukraine. Where will he stop?

China built islands in the South China Sea. Hillary and Obama didn't challenge this. China's president promised not to militarize the islands. Now they have built a two-mile airstrip and hangars for their largest planes.

Boko Haram kidnapped hundreds of school girls, selling them into sexual slavery. Now running to become the first woman president, Hillary took months as  secretary of state to designate it a terrorist group.

At home, riots in Milwaukee, Baltimore, and Ferguson. Police officers are targets, including multiple murders in Dallas and Baton Rouge. Blue Lives Matter too. Does the rule of law exist? Hillary would continue the path of apologizing and pandering.

Hillary, Obama, and the media repeat, the "Trump is dangerous" narrative. Maybe he is, or maybe not. Having no political record makes him an unknown. The way he talks demonstrates he's not a professional politician. Some off the cuff remarks range from careless to frightening.

Hillary is known. While Hillary was secretary of state and Obama president, their foreign policy made the world more chaotic and dangerous. Electing Hillary means more of the same; which inevitably leads to bigger attacks and greater danger worldwide and in the U.S.

Voters don't like Hillary anymore than Trump. Besides Trump, Hillary is the candidate with the highest negatives ever. The lesser of two evils wins. Trump has made the decision against him easier by repeatedly dousing himself in gasoline and lighting the match. If he finally stops being his own worst enemy, it's the first step out of this "nice mess."
