Speaker Battle Means Our Republic Lives On

Dr. (Benjamin) Franklin, we have a pulse, maybe even a strong enough heartbeat.

Our republic is alive, albeit on life-support.

The heavy hand of the swamp seeks to deal the final death blow to our nation as Founded.

In December’s final weeks, it seemed America’s demise was all but sealed.

Beltway influencers and elected swamp cretons wielding the power to punish the electorate have taken great lengths to crush the American spirit.

Inflation-inducing money printing, censorship and cancelation, civil liberty rollups, election shenanigans, show hearings, and purposefully unprotected borders have tested the strength of the republic and the resolve of we the people.

Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., and his 17 disciples stood as willful accomplices, validating the existence of the swamp’s growing enthusiasm for a "uniparty" by passing a $1.7 trillion Omnibus Spending Bill loaded up with $16 billion in pork projects.

Brazenly and without fear of rebellion, Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., who had been tweeting about his new speaker of the U.S. House policies since November, took up residence in the speaker’s office with full expectation that the confirmation ballot was perfunctory at best.

He would inherit all the God-like power Nancy "We Still Don’t Know What Happened That Night to Your Husband" Pelosi amassed.

Afterall, the swamp had ousted the MAGA outsider.

He and Mitch had done a great job of culling the litter of new talent from the icky, America

First, candidates and the omnibus which McCarthy barely raised a flag on was in the rearview mirror. Surely the citizens now understood that D.C. had closed ranks and the beltway would resume its regularly scheduled looting.

Smooth sailing ahead, America the patient, now off life-support, was of no concern.

The perfunctory vote for McCarthy was anything but.

Five Republican representatives stood in the way, demanding that the presumptive speaker agree in the rules to devolve the power of the office to a shadow of the untouchable fortress, Speaker Pelosi had built, brick by tax-payer-dollar brick.

The self-proclaimed speaker-elect pushed back. In his view, he had earned the right to be speaker after 14 arduous years of go-along, get-along politics.

The Democrats mocked the drama with popcorn in the chamber.

With every ballot coming up short, name calling, and personal insults ensued. Establishment GOP members were publicly throwing rocks.

Words like "rebels," "traitors" and even "terrorists" were hurled at representatives who stood in the way of advancing the heir-apparent to the gavel.

It's interesting that protocol dictates that all of these people are announced as "The Honorable," before their names are said.

Isn’t a healthy representative republic supposed to elevate a dialogue and discussion centered on doing the best for the people?

The presumptive speaker dug in but would yield to many of the demands. Even Elon Musk threw in for McCarthy.

We the People and the Constitution seemed to have a pulse, actual signs of resistance and strength could be heard blasting through the Capitol’s, now melting, switchboard and twitter channels.

Voices from every corner of the swamp rang out in unison. "This is embarrassing!" "We need to get back to work immediately!" "The country has plunged into crisis!"

Let's all settle down.

This is exactly what the Framers intended all along. It's obvious that most of these federally elected folks haven’t been to many corporate board meetings.

Smoke filled rooms in D.C. lounges where deals are cut, using our money, to get to some kumbaya moment does not appear in the Declaration of Independence, "The Federalist Papers," or Constitution.

Nor do political parties, lobbyists or professional politicians.

The Framers designed a system where discussion and debate would be the norm.

President Jefferson warned us well:

"I think myself that we have more machinery of government than is necessary, too many parasites living on the labor of the industrious.

"Government big enough to supply everything you need is big enough to take everything you have . . . The course of history shows that as government grows, liberty deceases.

"The two enemies of the people are criminals and government, so let us tie the second down with the constitution so the second will not become the legalized version of the first."

Thomas Jefferson, Letter to William Ludlow, Sept. 6, 1824

What’s a few days more of sorting out the speaker selection?

Actually a few weeks of vacation from congressional high jinks might make the patient even heathier.

This week of beltway antics lends much to a hopefully growing optimism from those of us walking the halls of state legislatures.

Yes, We the People have a heartbeat, and we are ever vigilant.

Maybe the day of "shut-up-and-color" politics is fading.

It's long past time to start engaging our elected officials at all levels.

We are the difference makers, regulators, as well as the guardians of our future and liberty.

Keep it tuned to Newsmax and watch the dramatic action unfold even more!
