What a disgrace.

If you want to know how much Democratic and progressive leaders care about the violence, bloodshed, and deaths of black children, look at how they ignored the issue during the testimony of Attorney General William "Bill" Barr before the U.S. House Judiciary Committee on July 28.

Listening to them, one would think that not one black child had been killed by gun violence in any city.

To the best of my recollection, not one black or white Democrat on the Committee expressed outrage about the killing of black children in cities and states controlled by their Democratic Party bedfellows.

It's ironic and sad that the only voice for those black victims of violence in our cities at the hearing was the attorney general.

It was Barr, not any Democrat — black or white — who told the truth about black victims of crime: the threat to black lives on our streets is "massively greater" than threats posed by police.

He went on to say that the leading cause of death of young black males is homicide and that approximately "7,500 black Americans are victims of homicide" each year. He added that the "vast majority — around 90% — are killed by other blacks" and declared that each of those lives "matter."

As I recall, there was no response to Barr’s statistics from committee Democrats.

The only person in that committee room speaking for black children and the 7,500 blacks killed by predominately black on black violence was Attorney General Barr.

Black members faithfully echoed their Democratic colleagues' chorus as if not one black child had been murdered in the violence plaguing our nation's cities.

They appeared to be more concerned about glorifying violent rioters posing as protesters than about children being able to play outside their homes, go to the playground or even sleep peaceably in bed for fear of gangland gunfire.

And who has come to aid those children and their families and attempted to stop the violence and bloodshed?

Not Democrats. It has been both the president and the attorney general.

They recently announced an expansion of "Operation Legend" during a July 22 White House ceremony.

The program was named after four-year-old LeGend Taliferro, who was shot and killed in Kansas City, Missouri, while he slept. It was created to assist and work with local law enforcement in the fight against violent crime.

The little boy’s family and that of another shooting victim in Albuquerque, New Mexico attended the ceremony.

And what has been the reaction of Democratic leaders to rioters attacking the federal courthouse and injuring many federal law enforcement officers in Portland and the violence in other cities?

Regarding Portland, U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., described federal authorities as "storm troopers." As Newsmax.com reported, The Conference of Jewish Affairs said the use of the term was "offensive to Jews across the world."

In Chicago, Mayor Lori Lightfoot threatened to sue if federal agents came to the city without permission. After a call from President Trump, she eventually relented.

Some 200 agents will be sent to the town to combat a "rampage of violence."

One thing is clear: Blacks on the Judiciary Committee showed that they have more in common with Democratic Party leadership than they do with the black victims of gang violence.

President Trump got it right when he said at the Operation Legend ceremony: "This bloodshed must end. This bloodshed will end."

From their silence, Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee disagree.
