Since gaining prominence in the late 1940s, Billy Graham has been an influential leader in the evangelical Christian movement. Graham is most frequently associated with his crusades as he shared the Gospel to packed audiences at venues across the globe.
Throughout his years in ministry, Graham also has written more than 30 books, and many of them have gone on to become best-sellers. His writings have touched on disparate issues around the themes of Christianity and living a life of faith.

One of Graham’s most influential titles is his candid autobiography, “Just As I Am,” which was described by a Chicago Tribune book reviewer as “disarmingly honest.”
In the book — initially released in 1997 and updated in 2007 — Graham recounts how he attempted to share the healing words of Jesus Christ during such crises as the assassination of John F. Kennedy, the Oklahoma City bombing and, during his later years of influence, the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks.
Another one of Graham’s influential books is “The Jesus Generation.” The 1971 writing delves into the modern Christian youth culture that came to prominence in the 1940s as Graham began preaching to teenagers and young adults at previously unheard of venues. Graham’s unorthodox style of preaching led to the crusades and were sometimes referred to as the Christian version of Woodstock.

Other notable books penned by Graham include “Angels: God’s Secret Agents” (1975), which intertwines anecdotes with Scripture; “How to be Born Again” (1989), which is designed to clearly explain the born-again principles found in the evangelical Christian movement; “Hope for the Troubled Heart” (1993), about how to faithfully respond to challenging circumstances; and “The Holy Spirit” (1978), about God’s supernatural, transforming abilities.
As America was hurting in the immediate aftermath of the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks, Graham scribed two influential best-sellers that were an attempt at healing a hurting nation. The first, “Hope for Each Day,” was released in 2002; the second, “The Key to Personal Peace” came out in 2003.
Some of Graham’s earliest books go back to his earliest years in ministry. His first book, “Calling Youth to Christ” (1947) laid out his ministry objectives and the simply stated “Billy Graham Answers Your Questions” (1960) was designed to bring insight into the hands of faith-followers who were hungry for answers to burning questions.
