Bushmaster Law Enforcement Guns: Firearms Designed for Officers and Agents

By    |   Wednesday, 06 May 2015 12:42 PM EDT

For more than 40 years, Bushmaster Firearms International has equipped police departments across the United States. The company has a growing array of rifles and pistols specially designed for law enforcement. Bushmaster law enforcement weapons are designed for a range of law enforcement personnel like federal tactical officers, patrol officers, SWAT team members, and many more.

Focused on agility, accuracy and dependability, Bushmaster law enforcement rifles and pistols – from full automatic to semi-automatic operation – are made with specific law enforcement situations in mind, accord to Bushmaster’s law enforcement website.

The following are some of the company’s specific guns for law enforcement purposes.

Bushmaster Law Enforcement Models: Pistols
Bushmaster offers two types of pistols designed for officers and agents: the Carbon 15 – 9mm LE Pistol and the Carbon 15 – 5.56mm LE Pistol. This pistol features a versatile optics rail, a six-position tele-stock with a compact carry size, lightweight Carbon 15 molded receivers, and easy movement in constricted confines, according to the Tactical Gear Command website. Most of the parts of this pistol can be swapped with the Bushmaster 5.56mm pistol as well as any Bushmaster 5.56mm firearm.

The 5.56mm LE pistol is even easier to handle in tight quarters and weighs slightly more than its 9mm counterpart.

Bushmaster Law Enforcement Models: Rifles
Bushmaster supplies nine different rifle models for law enforcement agencies to choose from. The Bushmaster Gas Piston Rifle is “designed for situations requiring a lightweight, rugged firearm,” according to Xtreme Guns & Ammo, one of the largest rifle dealers in Texas.

The Bushmaster 6.8mm SPC Rifle features a six-position collapsible stock in an M4 A3 format, according to AR15.com. The Bushmaster M4 Type Carbines have a military barrel profile and a six-position tele-stock that fit the needs of law enforcement, according to Bushmaster.

The Bushmaster M4 “Patrolman’s” Carbine is easily adjustable to fit a variety of shooters’ body types, according to Bass Pro Shops. The Bushmaster 16-inch Heavy Barreled Carbine is powerful, versatile, easy to break down, and extremely accurate for long-range shots thanks to a 20-inch barrel, according to the Impact Guns website.

Bushmaster also manufactures an 11.5-inch barrel entry carbine, a Carbon 15 9mm carbine, an Optics Ready Carbine (O.R.C.), and a new .450 rifle and carbine. The new rifle and carbine is billed by Bushmaster as “big bore power in an AR platform,” a “powerful cartridge tamed by the AR type gas operating system so that recoil is reduced to a heavy thump and second shot control is retained.”
