What Is Chamilia?

Wednesday, 24 November 2010 09:54 AM EST

Chamilia, a type of fashion jewelry, came into being in 2002. It was founded by Killian Rieder and Jeff Julkowski. The name Chamilia is derived from “chameleon,” a lizard known to change its color according to its environment. The brand name was chosen to reflect the fact that Chamilia jewelry allows women to change and customize jewelry according to their mood, moment, or occasion.

Borrowing heavily from European styles, Chamilia jewelry includes beads of 14k gold, sterling silver, Swarovski® crystals, Italian Murano glass, and colored stones. Each bead from Chamilia is exquisitely designed. The company boasts of a collection of over 600 beads and has a successful partnership with Disney. Designers create exclusive designs, which are then modeled by expert craftsmen. Women can tailor and style their own earrings, bracelets, or necklaces.

Chamilia is primarily based in the U.S., headquartered in Minneapolis, but has a global reach through chains, stores, and boutiques throughout Europe, Canada, the Caribbean, and Australia.

Chamilia comes in both trendy and classic styles, which makes it a versatile look. Bracelets come with either a lobster claw clasp or a hinged signature clasp. Bracelets are designed in a way to prevent beads from sliding to the bottom of the bracelet if partially loaded. The point is to let women style sections of their bracelet and place beads wherever they want.

Chamilia jewelry has a feminine appeal, with lots of pink and shapely beads. It also offers themed beads like shells and martini glasses. Some beads carry words with an emotional touch, like “mom.”

The best part about Chamilia jewelry is that your earrings, necklace, or bracelet can be worn with the knowledge that it has been designed around your favorite theme, color, season, or style.
