In Indiana, Confederate flags continue to fly on private property.
The state's chapter of the Sons of Confederate Veterans is telling members to proudly fly their Confederate flags, creating a social media hashtag – #raiseyourbattleflag – and
urging followers on Facebook to "add your voice to the chorus against those who seek to strip us of our precious Heritage."
Vote Now: Should the Confederate Flag Be Removed From All Government Buildings?
Elsewhere the flag debate has angered some in the Hoosier state, including a group of residents who held a Confederate flag-burning ceremony on June 24, 2015, on the steps of the
statehouse in Indiana, WRTV reported.
A vendor at the Marion County fair also voluntarily took down a Confederate flag he flew at his fair booth, and although he stayed off camera, he expressed concerns about flying it amid the current controversies, WISH television reported.
The fair's Board President Ron Phillips told WISH the fair didn't object to the flag because of its significance in history.
"After some conversation, he’s agreed that he doesn’t want to cause controversy for us and due to the sensitivity of what’s going on and all the headlines around the country, he has agreed to remove the flag for the duration of our fair,” Phillips told the station.
