Torrejas is equated to a Cuban version of French toast. Cuban Torrejas are made with Cuban bread that is fried and dipped in syrup made with rum. Torrejas are commonly used to celebrate lent and are available in many Latino restaurants within the United States.

Flan
Flan is one of the most popular Cuban deserts in both Cuba and the US. The caramel treat has the consistency of custard that is baked and served cold. It is made of sugar, evaporated milk, condensed milk, eggs, cream cheese, and vanilla extract.
Cuban Coffee
Cuban coffee, which is common in coffee shops throughout the US, contains a shot of dark roast coffee that is sweetened with sugar. Sugar cane is widely cultivated in Cuba today and is thus present in many dishes and beverages.
