Many of Cuba’s tastiest and notorious dishes have become popular in the US, including those below:

Cuban Sandwich
The Cuban Sandwich contains roasted pork, ham, swiss cheese, and pickles placed on a thick, crusty bread. The sandwich became popular among early Cuban migrants in Florida and later spread to cafes and delis throughout the United States.

Steak Palomilla

This dish features a pound of thin, pan-fried steak with onion and orange. The dish is still growing in popularity in the United States but has been featured by Rachel Ray in 2009.

Rice Pudding
Now a popular American lunch box snack, rice pudding was first introduced to Cubans by the Spaniards. Many variations of the dish exist in the Hispanic world but the Cuban dish features boiled rice, cinnamon, sugar, lemon zest, and milk.

Torrejas
Torrejas is equated to a Cuban version of French toast. Cuban Torrejas are made with Cuban bread that is fried and dipped in syrup made with rum. Torrejas are commonly used to celebrate lent and are available in many Latino restaurants within the United States.

Flan
Flan is one of the most popular Cuban deserts in both Cuba and the US. The caramel treat has the consistency of custard that is baked and served cold. It is made of sugar, evaporated milk, condensed milk, eggs, cream cheese, and vanilla extract.

Cuban Coffee
Cuban coffee, which is common in coffee shops throughout the US, contains a shot of dark roast coffee that is sweetened with sugar. Sugar cane is widely cultivated in Cuba today and is thus present in many dishes and beverages.
