Girls with guns are thirsty for knowledge, and it’s not generic information they want. Women want gun-related information specific to them, their needs as women, and from places that don’t demean them.

Here are four of the best websites for girls with guns:

ALERT: Should Obama Have More Control Over Guns? Vote Now

1. The Well Armed Woman. Carrie Lightfoot started the website and Facebook page by the same name after finding a serious lack of information available to girls with guns after she first became a gun owner. Over the years, she has built a comprehensive website that addresses just about every question any female gun owner, new and experienced, might come across. There is a wealth of information here that is specific to women's needs. The Well Armed Woman also has more than 180 women’s shooting chapters by the same name across the country in over 40 states, where women meet monthly for a firearms-specific meeting and/or class and then shoot as a group together.

2. The Cornered Cat: A Woman’s Guide to Concealed Carry. This website for girls with guns also has a book and a corresponding Facebook page. One user described The Cornered Cat as "probably the most compete library of information relating to firearms, safety, and training aimed primarily at women. Many a gun guy could read and enjoy it as well."

3. Women’s Outdoor News. This website has all kinds of articles, tips, stories, and news specific to women on not only shooting, but also hunting, fishing, and about women generally engaged in outdoor activities. There are plenty of gear recommendations and product reviews, too.

4. NRA Women. The National Rifle Association is the gold standard for firearms training and education and also for encouraging women to get involved in the shooting sports. The NRA has a variety of women’s programs including Women on Target, a shooting clinic, hosted all over the country by various ranges at various times. The Women’s Wilderness Escape is typically a weekend adventure that exposes both novice and experienced shooters to a wide variety of shooting sports such as hunting, sporting clays, skeet shooting, and other outdoor activities. They also host the NRA Women’s Channel, which includes news and stories specific to girls with guns.
