At the beginning of 2015, Colorado was in the middle of a contentious battle to undo strict gun regulations passed in 2013. Amidst the political fights, firearms and pistol ranges in the state have continued to do well.

Here are eight Colorado shooting ranges:

1. BlueCore Shooting CenterThis facility in Lakewood, Colorado bills itself as the state's "concealed carry headquarters." Operated by Navy SEAL combat veterans, the business has multiple rifle and pistol ranges, a gun shop, and firearms training.

3. Great Guns Sporting: Located in Nunn, Colorado this public shooting range features a sporting clays course, five trap fields, two skeet fields, archery, rifle and pistol ranges. In addition, there is pheasant and chukar hunting.

4. Colorado Rifle Club: This outdoor shooting range is located near Byer, Colorado and features seven outdoor courses located on 2,405 acres. Founded in 1925, the range supports a wide variety of shooting, including cowboy action, high power, and long-range precision rifle.

5. Rocky Mountain Gun Club: This Grand Junction business is located in a 45,000-square-foot facility with modern equipment for archery, handguns, rifles, and more. Customers can use 38 shooting lanes in three bays.

6. Silver Bullet Shooting Range: In the Denver metro area, this range has newly improved ventilation in its indoor shooting facility. Five firing ranges at 25 yards meet the needs of customers, along with numerous classes on everything from concealed carry to youth gun safety and home defense.

7. Magnum Shooting CenterThis new business in North Colorado Springs has 24 indoor pistol/rifle lanes, six 100 yard and two 50 yard indoor pistol/rifle lanes, a shooter's lounge, a retail center, and other amenities.

8. Cheyenne Mountain Shooting Complex: Opened in 2013, this facility was billed as Colorado's largest public indoor shooting range. It is "a joint project between the U.S. Army, El Paso County, the El Paso County Sheriff and Colorado Parks and Wildlife and the U.S. Forest Service," according to their main website. "The CMSC also received a significant contribution from The National Rifle Association (NRA)." A 400 acre site features 120 shooting positions on seven ranges. Additional phases are planned.
