Here are five spots for firearms and pistol practice in the state of West Virginia:

"I've been a member here for two years and have no plans of dropping my membership," writes a reviewer on Google. "Even on the public side there are three rifle shooting distances (100, 200 & 300 yards) offered off of 14+ benches as well as a pistol bay. The staff is extremely helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. The shop has a nice diverse supply of reloading components, factory ammo, guns & accessories."

2. 340 Defense: Located in Charles Town, this outdoor pistol shooting areas feature ranges of 50, 100 and 400 yards. Firearms training is offered and conducted by NRA certified instructors. Customers come from Northern Virginia, the eastern panhandle and Washington, D.C.

"The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating," writes a reviewer on Yelp. "One of the nice features with this range is that the shooting bench is covered, which is good because it was raining on our trip. There's nobody breathing down your back — shooters use common sense and police their own area."

3. Gunsmoke Indoor Pistol Range: Hailed as Southern West Virginia's only indoor pistol range, the facility allows any handgun caliber and rim fire rifles at the five positions and 25-yard lanes. Located in Beckley, electric target retrievers and divided shooting stalls provide a safe environment. A modern ventilation system clears away lead, dust and burned powder for better shooting.

"Very nice range, operator very pleasant," writes a reviewer on Google. "This range is very clean and well lit. I really liked how the electric target lines were clearly marked in 5 yard increments."

4. Tango Down Range: Located in Hedgesville, this pistol and rifle range has 20 lanes for shooting from distances of 10, 25, 50 and 100 yards. Steel action targets are available. Membership is not required, but members receive reduced fees for hourly range time.

"I love the pistol side because they have moving steel targets, so instead of trying to find the hole in the target you just need to see if your steel target moves," writes a reviewer on Yelp. "They are fairly small so it's pretty awesome when you see it move each time you pull the trigger."

5. Valley Guns II: Also operating as a gun shop, the establishment, located in Inwood, has an indoor 15-yard pistol range and an indoor rifle range up to 100 yards. The handgun range is open to the public on Saturdays and rifle range is open to the public on weekdays.

"The ammo prices were the best I've seen in this area so far, so that is a bonus. I quickly realized they had a shooting range," writes a reviewer on Yelp. "I'll be back to this one as well."
