Bronchitis Diet

Wednesday, 23 February 2011 01:49 PM EST

Bronchitis, caused by inflammation of the mucous membrane lining the lungs, congests the airways and causes coughing. Some important factors that affect Bronchitis are diet, digestion, and daily stress levels.

A diet for bronchitis helps the condition a great deal before and after you get the infection. Green vegetables and fruits prevent chronic bronchitis while providing the nutrients and antioxidants that are much needed by the body.

A healthy diet for bronchitis should include fresh strawberries. Strawberries contain components like calcium, sodium, potassium, iron, copper, manganese, and vital vitamins. Other necessary diet items for bronchitis include fish and walnuts, which are rich in fatty acids. Bronchitis involves a lot of water loss from the body (dehydration). Hence, a bronchitis diet should include lots of fluids. These fluids also help the body to flush out toxins. An appropriate diet plan for bronchitis should include orange, watermelon, and such juicy fruits with high water content.
