1. Groundhogs
According to liveoutdoors.com, the best time to hunt these animals is during the coolest parts of the day, which would be either early in the morning or late in the afternoon or early evening. For those interested in taking part in guided hunts, there are opportunities by way of the
North Central Ohio Varmint Express. They offer full day hunts from early May through early November. Details can be found on their website;
2. Crow
Crow season begins during the latter portions of the spring, closer to the summer equinox. The start dates are typically early June, lasting through early March of the following year. There’s also no bag limit, which should excite those looking to hunt this particular type of smaller game.
3. Feral Pigs
It’s a bonus to know that opportunities to hunt more unusual game can be had in the state of Ohio.

There are a plethora of other creatures that can be hunted in the late summer months, specifically during the first three weeks of September, right up through the official calendar start date for fall,
according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. These types of game include squirrels, mourning doves, rails, moorhen, snipe, teal, and Canadian geese. In addition, coyote are available for hunting, and no bag limits exist at this time.
Clearly, with all of these options available, it’s no wonder that hunters in Ohio and surrounding parts cast an eager eye towards the summer. The weather is warm, the hunting is bountiful, and the state of Ohio is welcoming for all outdoor enthusiasts.
