Many celebrities have voiced support for the boycott of Israel in revent years, and some performers have faced criticism for refusing to get behind boycotts. New York Post writer Andrea Peyser noted some of these people who have taken a stand in support of Israel.

Among those on Peyser’s list are:

Vote Now: Should the U.S. Continue to Support Israel?

1. Howard Stern: Peyser quotes Stern as saying on his Sirius XM show, “If you are anti-Israel, you are anti-America.”

2. Joan Rivers: The late comedienne was known for making a point in a blunt, humorous way without apologizing. In regard to the Israeli conflict, Rivers told TMZ.com that the situation demanded East Coast moxie. “If New Jersey were firing rockets into New York, we would wipe them out,” Rivers said.

3. Simon Cowell: The music producer of “American Idol” and “X Factor” donated $150,000 to the Friends of the Israeli Defense Forces. Other artists who have been encouraged to follow the boycott have also vocally chosen to not participate.

4. Neil Young: As noted by the New York Post’s Craig Balsam, Neil Young canceled a summer concert in Tel Aviv because of conflicts at the time but quickly vowed to reschedule as soon as possible. According to Balsam, Young announced plans “to donate to two organizations that teach Israeli and Palestinian children to play music together in order to help bridge the cultural gap.” Young has not announced a rescheduled concert.

5. Scarlett Johansson: The actress appeared in a Super Bowl ad for SodaStream, which has a factory in the West Bank. Johansson refused to bow to pressure to step down as the company’s spokesperson. Johansson said, ““I was aware of that particular factory before I signed [on]. … It still doesn’t seem like a problem. Until someone has a solution to the closing of that factory to leaving all those people destitute, that doesn’t seem like the solution to the problem,” according to a March article on Time.com.
