Joe Bastardi is a professional weather forecaster, meteorologist, and climate change pundit, and he is known for his outspoken opinions when it comes to human-caused global warming. Bastardi has taken a strong, vocal stance against the science that supports anthropogenic global warming and has been a frequent pundit on television programs such as "Fox News Live," "The Colbert Report," and CBS's "The Early Show."
Originally the chief long-range forecaster for Accuweather, Bastardi transitioned to the role of chief forecaster at WeatherBell Analytics where he is known for his accurate forecasts. Bastardi also has a reputation for understanding weather and climate history. According to a report by the
Media Research Center, he used his knowledge to "accurately predict both Hurricane Sandy and Hurricane Arthur ahead of official warnings."

Two reasons make Joe Bastardi uniquely qualified as a meteorologist and climate change pundit. The first qualifier is that since he works for a premium weather-reporting site with private-sector clients, his forecasts must be accurate to retain subscribers for the service. And the second is that Bastardi claims that he has no political motivations for his opinions unlike, for example, as reported by the Media Research Center, scientists that "cannot actually be objective, because they are given grants explicitly to study global warming."
The Pennsylvania State Sustainability Institute in 2014 reported on the latest National Climate Assessment in which more than 300 scientists offered their opinions on global warming.
In that report, Dr. Michael Mann, director of Penn State's Earth System Science Center gave the opinion that global warming is "…impacting us now, negatively, when it comes to issues like food security. When it comes to our ability to get the fresh water we need in many parts of the country, when it comes to drought, heat stress, wildfire in the western United States, extreme flooding." Bastardi on the other hand stated, "Spend an hour and go back and look at the weather history and climate of the United States. You'll find that things were far worse than what they are now."
Joe Bastardi's stance on global warming is one of skepticism based on his decades of experience as a meteorologist and climate change historian. His direct approach as a global warming pundit remains sharp and on point. A recent report by
World Net Daily about President Obama's carbon emissions policies, quotes Bastardi. "This is not about the weather. It’s not about climate. It’s not about science. Those things are being used to further another agenda."
