With millions of apps designed to make your life easier, it’s only natural that there would be hundreds of them aimed at golfers.

As Today’s Golfer suggests, thanks to technology, your smartphone could become your best weapon on the golf course, but not all apps are aimed at improving your score.

Here’s a list of the six top apps every golfer should consider:

1. Hole19 — This golf scorer app is free on iOS and Android and, according to Morsh Golf, it includes features for almost any type of golfer.

Hole19 lets you track your scores and stats with scorecards from 39,000 golf courses worldwide. It helps you keep track of your GIR, putting, scores by par, recovery performance, and driving accuracy.

The app also allows you connect with friends and compare scores or simply share updates.

2. V1GOLF — Today’s Golfer says you can turn your phone into a golf coach with this handy app.

With free and premium options available, V1GOLF is basically a swing analyzer. Simply record your swing and the app will let you watch it in slow motion and compare it to the golfing pros.

Morsh Golf points out that it also comes with drawing tools to help you visualize your swing easily, as well as an angle management tool.

3. U.S Golf Courses — Explore the courses of the United States with this online directory app. At a cost of just $0.99, you’ll get access to information about more than 13,500 major golf courses.

According to Mashable, the app's GPS function will help you search for the nearest golf course. You’ll get information on grass/bunkers, facilities available, and contact details.

4. Golf Digest Tips Plus — No matter how good a golfer you are, everyone can always use a few pro tips. With Golf Digest’s free app, you’ll get access to lessons by some of the world’s best coaches.

Mashable says the app includes tips on everything from swing mechanics and putting to strategy and golf exercises. Each tip is presented in video and text.

5. SONOCADDIE 2 — Get the best possible view of the course you’re playing with this free Android app.

While many GPS apps provide aerial views of holes, Golf magazine says this one also includes enhanced color yardage guides and a real-time interface that gives you your exact location.

According to them, the app’s coolest feature is its vivid graphics that are easy to see even in direct sunlight.

6. The Official Rules of Golf App Even the most seasoned players need a refresher every now and then. Today’s Golfer suggests turning your phone into an on-course marshal with the free Official Rules of Golf App.

There are a couple of golf rules apps available, but Today’s Golfer recommends this one by the R&A for its simple question and answer format, helping you solve almost any query instantly.
