Red Moon Rapture: How Does Lunar Eclipse Cycle Signal Apocalypse Is Near?

Red Moon Rapture: How Does Lunar Eclipse Cycle Signal Apocalypse Is Near?

The link between an unusual lunar eclipse cycle and impending doom depends on Bible prophecy interpretation and unfolding events. The calamities of the Middle East signal a Red Moon Rapture is approaching, according to those who believe the end is near.

There are Christians who think the true believers of Christianity will be lifted into heaven during the Rapture before the second coming of Christ. The end times will also include the battle of Armageddon, in which Israel plays a prominent role, and Christ’s return to victory over enemies of the Lord.

The red moon, or blood moon, comes into play because of four such lunar eclipses that take place in 2014 and 2015, two occurring on Passover and two occurring during the Jewish Feast of Tabernacles. It is uncommon for four blood moons to appear within 18 months, and the four lunar eclipses are called a tetrad. The red moon gets it name because of the reddish hue that develops when looking at it when the Earth comes between the sun and the moon.

The dangers facing Israel at this time have caused some people to believe the lunar eclipses are symbolic of a Red Moon Rapture. Only three tetrads matching Jewish feast days have occurred in the last 500 years and brought on major events in Jewish history, according to Irvin Baxter, founder and president of Endtime Ministries.

The Spanish Inquisition and expulsion of Jews from Spain happened just before the 1493-94 tetrad. The nation of Israel was reborn in 1948 and battled Arab enemies during the 1949-50 tetrad. In the 1967 Six-Day War, Israel took back Jerusalem for the first time since A.D. 70 — during the tetrad of 1967-68.

Some scholars of biblical prophecy believe the tetrad of 2014-15 could signal apocalyptic events if a Middle East peace agreement is signed, leading to the Red Moon Rapture, public emergence of the Antichrist, Armageddon, and Christ’s return. An attempt is being made at a peace agreement between the Israelis and the Palestinians, but such an agreement could lead to land disputes and conflict, according to events prophesized in the Bible.

Pastor John Hagee, author of “Four Blood Moons: Something Is About to Change,” points to the uncertainties involving Israel in the Middle East during this tetrad. Chaos has occurred in Egypt and Syria. Iran poses a nuclear threat to Israel, which may be forced to use military action to protect itself, thus igniting a series of incidents foretold in biblical prophecy.
