Taylor Swift: Political Fundraising Secret Weapon

Tuesday, 02 August 2011 11:43 AM EDT

Politicians have found a new fundraising secret weapon in country singer Taylor Swift, Politico reports.

Seven lawmakers will use Swift’s Tuesday and Wednesday night concerts in Washington as fundraising events.

Republican senator John Thune and GOP congressmen Jo Bonner, Michael Grimm, Tom Price, and Kay Granger will join democrat Heath Shuler in using Swift as a fundraising ally.

Prices range from $1000 for two individual tickets with Kay Granger to $3500 for two PAC tickets with John Thune. Ticketholders will get to enjoy the concert in the company of their lawmakers.

The four time Grammy Award winner is not the first singer to see politicians cash in on her concerts. Senator Tom Harkin and congressmen Ed Towns and David Cicilline held fundraisers at a Lady Gaga concert in DC last February.
