Families planning a staycation have plenty to explore in Utah. Considered the 33rd most populous state, families can spend a day learning and interacting  in one of the many museums or take a quick trip to the Alpine Coaster in Park City. There is something for everyone to enjoy.

Here are seven places to visit in the Beehive State:

1. Family History Library: Located in Salt Lake City, this is the largest genealogical library in the world with copies of millions of original records including the names of more than 2 billion deceased people.

2. Natural History Museum of Utah: Located in Salt Lake City, visitors can explore nature and science in 10 themed galleries, as well as step outdoors to experience nature as it's revealed just outside the building.

3. Discovery Gateway: Located in downtown Salt Lake City, children can enjoy a hands on experience at this museum which offers 60,000 square feet of interactive exhibits.

4. Alpine Coaster: Located in Park City, this elevated track winds you through more than a mile of loops and hair-pin curves at speeds of up to 30 mph, accompanied by the gorgeous mountain scenery.

5. Park City Main Street Historic District: Home of the Sundance Film Festival, this thriving business district boasts more than 250 shops, lodges, restaurants, resorts and cultural activities such as art galleries and signature events.

6. Dead Horse Point State Park: Located in Moab, this park offers camping, hiking and biking trails, as well as overlook the breathtaking views of the Colorado River. "Immense vertical cliffs meet with canyons carved by ice, water and wind creating a visual masterpiece." Writes a reviewer on TripAdvisor.

7. Zion National Park: Located in near Springdale, visitors can explore nature's magnificence and follow the paths of ancient Native Americans and pioneers. Families can look up at massive sandstone cliffs and experience wilderness in a narrow slot canyon.
