Wyoming has very few restrictions when it comes to gun laws.
Among other things, a background check is not required prior to the transfer of a firearm between unlicensed individuals and the state does not have a waiting period before an individual purchases a firearm. It also does not require gun owners to obtain a license, register their firearms, or report lost or stolen weapons.

For those visiting the state, Wyoming recognizes reciprocity of concealed weapon permits from many states. Residents who have permits in these states can also carry a concealed weapon in Wyoming: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and West Virginia.
Reciprocity laws change frequently, so independent confirmation by directly contacting the attorney general of the state in question is recommended.
Open carry is unrestricted in Wyoming, including for visitors.
While driving through the state, drivers can have loaded handguns or long guns in plain sight or in a case. Gun law restrictions in a vehicle only apply to concealed carry.
In 2011, Wyoming became the fourth state in the nation to allow private citizens to carry concealed firearms in public without a license or permit.
