The United States is experiencing systemic problems.

Technology is rapidly making traditional business models obsolete.

The dominate companies generate share value in the business of monetizing the data linked to the behaviour of the people buying and selling goods and services.

It is a new form of synthetic asset.

The new business model is based on, as Shoshana Zuboff (author of The Age of Surveillance Capitalism) has said, surveillance revenues.

As Zuboff observes, the gathering of data, processing, analyzing, segmenting, bundling, and selling operates in an unregulated marketplace with no oversight or regards for established norms of societal responsibility and accountability.

The federal government provides a gloss of legitimacy in return for the ability to operate an unhindered surveillance state and maintain an assured source of campaign contributions.

The vast amounts of data crunched by the computers are provided by the dominant internet companies which treat privacy as an archaic concept.

Zuboff says, “And what is crucially different about this new form of exploitation and exceptionalism is that beyond merely strip-mining our intimate inner lives, it seeks to shape, direct and control them. Their operations transpose the total control over production pioneered by industrial capitalism to every aspect of everyday life.”

“…a process that will inevitably undo society as we currently understand it…”

“…surveillance capitalism, a force that is as profoundly undemocratic as it is exploitive…”

If current trends continue, the American economy will be effectively controlled by the integrated partnership of the government and the left-wing progressive of Google, Amazon, Apple, Microsoft, and Facebook.

At grave risk is the capitalist free-market economy which enabled the United States out of the Depression to become the most prosperous nation on earth.

Now a cabal of Congressional avowed socialist and the oligarchs of the internet want to impose on America the Green New Deal.

It is a manifesto which reads like a wish list for the creation of a socialist state.

A proposal so grotesque that it threatens to undo our society as a free democratic republic and out national prosperity.

We only need to look carefully at the last New Deal foisted on the United States to realize the disaster that government-dictated policies enacted for the benefit of the progrossive socialist elite can bring.

Franklin D. Roosevelt’s One Hundred Days, First New Deal, Second New Deal and other policies put into place resulted in the Great Depression dragging on and only ending after WWII.

Jim Powell in his book FDR’s Folly: How Roosevelt and his New Deal Prolonged the Great Depression, reminds us that,

The failure of the New Deal seems incredible considering that FDR is widely rated among America's greatest presidents. Moreover, many of the brightest minds of the era were recruited to Washington. FDR, who graduated from Harvard College, filled many of his top positions with graduates of Harvard Law School. They had clerked with the most respected judges of the era. These and other New Dealers were hailed for their compassion and their so-called progressive thinking. They were widely viewed as more noble than the greedy businessmen and reckless speculators who were thought to have brought on the depression. New Dealers wanted to eliminate poverty, abolish child labor, and right other social wrongs. Many New Dealers saw themselves as trying to make the world over. How could such bright, compassionate people have gone so wrong?”

The New Deal was then; the Green New Deal is now.

The target is the same now as it was then.

Shoshana Zuboff said, “From the boardrooms of the most powerful corporations to government’s seeking to ‘nudge’ their populations towards ‘better’ decisions, and to surveil their inner moods and desires for any signs of deviance, dissent or radical intent.”

For the moment, you still have a choice.
